On June 23rd Canterbury Christ Church University hosted a conference for Young Ambassadors as part of the Kent 20 in 12 Learning Programme. Young Ambassadors from across the county were invited to think of how they may inspire their schools to develop a learning project using the Olympic and Paralympic Games as a stimulus. A highlight of the day was the visit of Danny Crates, Paralympic gold medallist and former world record holder, who spoke about his journey towards becoming a Paralympian and inspired the young people with his excellent presentation.
It is hoped the day will prove to be the beginning of the next phase of the Kent 20 in 12 Learning Programme which sees the young people of Kent, led by the Young Ambassadors, develop and implement learning projects in their schools over the next two years.
The day was also marked with recognition from LOCOG of the project's achievements through the 'Inspire Mark'. The Kent 20 in 12 Learning Programme is one of only a few projects nationally to be acknowledged in this way.
