Final Call for Entries as Top Companies help Young People in the South East to Reach for Gold.
Reaching for Gold is an exciting new team competition which challenges young people (14 – 19) to get thinking about how they can make a difference to their local communities and then develop their ideas into viable projects. Those successful in rising to the challenge will not only benefit by gaining a wealth of new skills through teaming up with a global company, they also stand to win some fantastic prizes to help them with their project development, including the latest hi-tech gadgetry and, in the case of the overall winners, £5000.
Launched by SEEDA, the South East England Development Agency, and the South East Corporate Cabinet, the competition is open to school and college students, and members of voluntary and community groups across the South East. Teams are limited to 10 members and the entries must be submitted online by the school or group the team belongs to.
The first stage of the competition involves making an application that explains the team’s idea and how it would be put into practice. Applications must be submitted by 5pm Friday 2 October to www.reachingforgold.org.uk . The proposed project should benefit society in one of three themes - Youth, Community and Disability. The judges will expect the would-be beneficiaries to have been involved in developing the teams’ ideas.
